Well, I've been thinking about the "garbage ecosystem" and here is one brief episode from it, the rest is still a little blurred right now, but it is taking shape.

A dog licking its lips under the table, expecting something to drop from above, hopefully something worth eating. This is the main biological interaction occurring in the garbage environment. A passive generalist like the ordinary dog has chosen a stable strategy of minimum risk for itself, the cost is that it cannot expect to feed regularly. Other dogs have chosen a more aggressive approach by exploring as many potential food sources as they can find, with the added risk of taking, from time to time, an active role in the gathering of food, occasionally even stealing.
